Formed in 2001, Day of the Dead is the instrumental project formed by “Storytime” guitar player and rock poster artist Ben Frichot. Over two decades, Frichot’s imagination and versatility as a writer and guitarist has placed him on stage among musical greats as varied as surf godfather Dick Dale, New Zealand rock kings Shihad, and legendary artists of every genre in between.
Featuring Luke Fragomeni on drums, Byron McLeod Robertson on bass, and Nick Gallagher on nylon string guitar, The Dead forge their own take on retro influenced surf guitar with a measure of modern energy and dark tremolo spy music. The band have recorded 5 releases and worked with producers including Dom Mariani (The Stems), Adam Spark (Birds of Tokyo) and Tom Larkin (SHIHAD).
The Dead have performed live with many artists including Brian Setzer, The Stray Cats, Calexico and Motorhead. Their unique sound can be spooky atmospheric lounge or flat out hot-rod surf guitar.
